India AI Impact Summit 2026: A Global Stage
These engagements took place at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 16 to February 20. The summit has drawn policymakers, technology leaders, researchers, startups, and civil society representatives from over 110 countries.
With participation from more than 30 international organizations, nearly 20 heads of state or government, and around 45 ministers, the summit reflects India’s growing influence in shaping global AI discourse. Organisers have framed the event around three pillars People, Planet, and Progress advocating a human-centric approach to artificial intelligence.
Officials describe the gathering as the first major global AI summit hosted in the Global South, underscoring India’s ambition to contribute actively to debates on AI governance, safety standards, and equitable technological growth.
AI and India’s Economic Outlook
In separate remarks, the Prime Minister highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence for India’s IT and services industry. India’s IT sector, long a cornerstone of services exports, is projected to reach $400 billion by 2030, driven in part by AI-enabled services and automation.
While acknowledging both opportunities and challenges, the government has emphasised the need to remain globally competitive while ensuring that AI adoption supports job creation, productivity gains, and inclusive development.
As India continues to host global leaders and technology executives, the summit signals a broader shift from being primarily a technology services provider to emerging as a policymaker and innovation partner in the global AI ecosystem.
