Kimbal Musk, entrepreneur and the brother of Tesla and SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk, has publicly addressed references to his name in the latest release of documents linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The clarification comes after media reports highlighted Musk’s appearance multiple times in a newly unsealed tranche of records related to Epstein’s communications and associations.
The documents, often referred to as the “Epstein files,” include emails, correspondence, and scheduling references involving a wide range of public figures. Within this release, Kimbal Musk’s name appeared more than 100 times, prompting scrutiny and speculation about the nature of his interactions with Epstein.
In a post shared on social media platform X, Kimbal Musk sought to clarify the context behind his inclusion in the files. He stated that Epstein did not facilitate or introduce him to a woman he was dating in 2012, addressing claims that suggested Epstein had played a role in his personal relationships.
“This post is related to the Epstein files and why my name is in them,” Musk wrote. “In 2012, I started dating a woman who was 30 years old. I met her through a friend. Epstein did not introduce us.”
Musk also described his direct interaction with Epstein as limited, saying that he met the financier only once, during a daytime meeting at Epstein’s office in New York. He emphasised that he never met Epstein again following that encounter and denied ever visiting Epstein’s private island.
“My only meeting with him was in his New York office during the day,” Musk wrote, adding that he never travelled with Epstein or attended events associated with him.
Addressing why his name appeared frequently in the records, Musk said the volume of emails referenced in the files stemmed from a newsletter he sent out on a regular basis. According to Musk, Epstein had subscribed to the mailing list, which was distributed to thousands of recipients every few weeks.
“The reason he has so many emails from me is because he was subscribed to a newsletter I sent out to thousands of people every few weeks,” he said.
Musk also expressed sympathy for victims of sexual abuse, stating that his thoughts were with those who suffered as a result of Epstein’s actions, as well as survivors of abuse more broadly.
The latest release of Epstein-related documents has renewed public attention on the scope of the financier’s social and professional network. The records indicate that Epstein maintained contact with numerous individuals across politics, entertainment, academia, and business, even after his 2008 conviction for sex-related offences.
In addition to Kimbal Musk, the documents also reference his brother, Elon Musk. The records show limited email exchanges involving Elon Musk and Epstein, including discussions around potential travel or social engagements. One email mentions Epstein’s private island, a location that has been central to allegations surrounding Epstein’s activities.
Elon Musk has previously stated that he never visited Epstein’s island. In earlier social media posts, he said Epstein had attempted to persuade him to travel there, but that he declined.
