Ferrari has confirmed the Indian pricing of its latest flagship performance model, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa, ahead of its scheduled market launch in March 2026. The Italian automaker has announced an ex-showroom price of ₹10.37 crore, positioning the model as the most powerful and technologically advanced Ferrari to be officially sold in the country.

The 849 Testarossa, which made its global debut in 2025, will replace the SF90 Stradale in Ferrari’s lineup. Carrying a historic nameplate that traces its origins back to Ferrari’s racing heritage of the 1950s, the new Testarossa represents a significant step forward in the brand’s transition toward electrified high-performance vehicles.

Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain

At the core of the Ferrari 849 Testarossa is a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with three electric motors, delivering a combined output of 1,035 horsepower.

The V8 engine alone produces 819 hp and has been extensively revised with new cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, and turbochargers. The remaining 217 hp comes from the electric motors, reinforcing Ferrari’s strategy of using electrification to enhance performance rather than dilute it.

Two electric motors are mounted on the front axle, enabling advanced torque vectoring and all-wheel-drive capability up to speeds of 209 kmph. A third motor is positioned between the internal combustion engine and the transmission, ensuring consistent power delivery at higher speeds and assisting with gear shifts.

Energy is supplied by a 7.45 kWh lithium-ion battery, which allows the Testarossa to operate in pure electric mode for distances of up to 24.9 kilometres. In EV-only operation, power is sent exclusively to the front wheels, with the top speed electronically limited to 128.7 kmph.

Performance Figures

Ferrari states that the 849 Testarossa exceeds the performance benchmarks set by even the SF90 XX Stradale. The coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.2 seconds and reaches 200 kmph in 6.3 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 330 kmph.

A Spider variant will also be available internationally, though its acceleration figures are marginally lower due to increased weight. Both versions are equipped as standard with an eight-speed dual-clutch F1 transmission, engineered for rapid gear changes and sustained high-speed driving.

Exterior Design and Aerodynamics

The design of the Ferrari 849 Testarossa draws inspiration from 1970s endurance racing prototypes, blending classic Ferrari cues with contemporary aerodynamic solutions. The overall silhouette follows a cab-forward layout, with sharp geometric lines defining the bodywork.

Large side air intakes are integrated into the doors, serving both cooling and aerodynamic functions. The rear features a distinctive double-tail design, referencing the iconic Ferrari 512 S, while the front incorporates a horizontal bridge element reminiscent of Ferrari models from the 1980s.

Although it shares certain visual themes with the SF90 and the Daytona SP3, Ferrari has emphasized that the 849 Testarossa is not a mere evolution but an entirely new design, developed to reflect the brand’s future direction.

Interior and Driver Interface

Inside the cabin, Ferrari has reinterpreted traditional elements through a modern lens. The gear selector is styled to resemble a miniature gated manual shifter, offering a visual nod to classic Ferraris despite the car’s fully automatic transmission.

The steering wheel features physical buttons rather than touch-sensitive controls, a change introduced to improve usability during high-performance driving. A prominent central sail divides the cockpit into driver and passenger zones, each equipped with digital displays that provide real-time performance data and vehicle information.

Customers will be able to choose between comfort-focused seats or more aggressive racing-style seats, depending on their intended usage and driving preferences.

Positioning in the Indian Market

With its confirmed pricing, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa will sit at the very top of the luxury performance car segment in India. The model is expected to appeal to collectors and enthusiasts seeking cutting-edge technology combined with Ferrari’s racing pedigree.

Ferrari India has not yet disclosed allocation numbers or delivery timelines, but early indications suggest limited availability, consistent with the brand’s controlled distribution strategy.

As Ferrari continues its gradual move toward electrification, the 849 Testarossa stands as a statement model demonstrating that hybrid technology can coexist with uncompromised performance and emotional driving appeal.
