Actor Esha Gupta has safely returned home after being stranded in Abu Dhabi amid rising tensions following a reported US-Israel military operation on Iran on February 28. The actress shared a detailed account of her experience on Instagram, describing the tense atmosphere at the airport and praising the swift response of authorities in the United Arab Emirates.
In her note, Esha began by expressing gratitude for the concern shown by fans and well-wishers.
“Back home. Thank you all for your prayers and wishes. It was very tough to be in the situation we all faced. Truly God’s blessing to be safe!” she wrote.
Airport Shutdown and Initial Chaos
The actress recounted that she was at Abu Dhabi International Airport on February 28 when operations were abruptly halted.
“It started when I was at the airport on the 28th (Saturday). By 1 p.m., the airport was closed, chaos all around as none of us knew what had happened. Then the news started coming of the missile attack, and no one knew what the next minute held for us. Strangers consoling each other, all calling their families back home,” she shared.
While describing the uncertainty of the moment, Esha noted that despite fear and confusion, passengers largely maintained composure.
Praise for UAE Authorities
Esha particularly highlighted the response of the UAE government and airport officials. She said that despite the distressing situation, authorities acted quickly and efficiently.
“We were at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The ground staff and airport security immediately sprang into action and stayed calm throughout, even though we were all in this situation together,” she wrote.
Since she had not yet completed check-in procedures, Esha decided to return to her hotel in Abu Dhabi. There, she learned more about the arrangements made for stranded passengers.
According to her account, airport authorities provided stranded travelers with cash for food and later coordinated accommodation at available hotels across Abu Dhabi.
“By 9 p.m. that night, they had buses ready for transfers to different hotels across the city and island. The government, before it hit the media, had ordered all the hotels to provide stay and food for the stranded passengers,” she explained.
She also emphasized that families and friends were accommodated together, ensuring comfort and safety.
Ministry Alerts and Hotel Support
Esha revealed that people in the city received alerts from the UAE’s Ministry of Interior advising them to seek shelter when necessary. She described how the hotel staff remained attentive and reassuring throughout the ordeal.
“The hotel management I saw in the same clothes as the night before were still working, still active, taking care of everything, answering questions they were unaware of as well, to the best of their ability,” she wrote.
Even delivery services continued operating, and essential services remained uninterrupted. Despite visible anxiety among guests gathered in hotel lobbies due to security alerts, she observed that people remained orderly.
“Not once did we see the people, all scared internally, create stress; we were all in this together,” Esha added.
Gratitude to Indian and UAE Governments
The actress expressed appreciation for both the Indian and UAE governments for their coordination and support during the tense period. She described the response as a demonstration of strong leadership and preparedness.
“All this shows just the backbone of a country and its strength they took action when needed, no blaming anyone, just strong decisions,” she wrote.
On Sunday, she had earlier reassured followers about her safety, calling the situation “scary and tough” but affirming that she was protected.
“To everyone checking in and messaging, I’m sorry for not replying. We are okay, we are safe! Times are scary, very tough. God is there to protect us,” she had posted.
