Bill Gates will not deliver the keynote at the India AI Impact Summit, with the Gates Foundation citing focus on summit priorities as renewed scrutiny over Epstein-related documents resurfaces.
Bill Gates will no longer deliver the keynote address at the India AI Impact Summit, his foundation confirmed on Thursday, saying the decision was taken to ensure the focus remains on the event’s central themes.
In a statement shared publicly, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation said Gates would step aside from the keynote programme. The foundation will instead be represented by Ankur Vora, President of its Africa and India Offices, who is scheduled to address the summit later in the day.
“After careful consideration, and to ensure the focus remains on the AI Summit’s key priorities, Mr. Gates will not be delivering his keynote address,” the statement said.
The announcement comes at a sensitive moment. Although the foundation did not directly cite any controversy, the development follows renewed public scrutiny after the United States Department of Justice released emails last month referencing communications between the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and staff linked to the Gates Foundation.
