Multiple schools across Noida and Delhi were evacuated on Thursday morning after receiving bomb threat emails during the ongoing Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examinations, prompting large-scale security operations and temporary disruption of exam-day activities.
Officials confirmed that at least 12 schools in Noida received similar threatening emails during examination hours. The alerts were treated as serious security threats, leading school administrations to immediately activate emergency protocols. Students and staff were escorted out of classrooms and examination halls as a precautionary measure.
Police teams, bomb disposal squads, and dog units were deployed to the affected campuses. Authorities conducted systematic searches of classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, and parking areas to rule out any threat.
Following the initial sweeps, officials confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosives were found at the Noida schools. However, comprehensive sanitisation checks continued to ensure the safety of the premises before allowing normal activities to resume.
Delhi Schools Also Targeted
In Delhi, at least three schools reported receiving similar bomb threat emails on Thursday morning. According to officials from Delhi Fire Services, the institutions included CRPF Public School and St Thomas School in Dwarka, along with DAV Centenary Public School in Paschim Enclave.
Emergency services responded swiftly. Fire tenders, police personnel, bomb disposal teams, and local administrative officials reached the schools shortly after the alerts were received. Students were evacuated in an orderly manner while authorities conducted detailed inspections of the buildings and surrounding areas.
As in Noida, no suspicious items were found during preliminary searches in Delhi schools. Officials said that all actions were carried out strictly as a preventive step, in accordance with established security protocols.
“Whenever such information is received, immediate evacuation and thorough inspection are mandatory. The safety of students and staff remains the top priority,” a senior official said.
Disruption During CBSE Board Exams
The threats came at a sensitive time, as CBSE board examinations are currently underway across the country. The timing of the emails caused temporary disruption and anxiety among students and parents.
School administrations coordinated closely with law enforcement agencies to manage communication and ensure minimal confusion. Parents were informed promptly about the precautionary evacuations and reassured once preliminary searches confirmed there was no immediate danger.
Authorities have not indicated whether the exams scheduled for the day would require rescheduling, but officials emphasised that student safety would not be compromised under any circumstances.
Cyber Investigation Launched
Given the coordinated nature of the emails sent to multiple schools across two cities, cybercrime units have initiated a parallel investigation to trace the source of the threats.
Investigators are analysing technical details, including email headers, IP traces, and digital footprints, to determine the origin of the messages. Officials said strict legal action would be taken against those responsible if the threats are found to be hoaxes.
Law enforcement agencies warned that false bomb threats not only create panic but also divert critical emergency resources from genuine emergencies.
Heightened Vigilance at Educational Institutions
The incidents have prompted heightened security measures at educational institutions, particularly during examination periods. Officials indicated that additional vigilance would be maintained in the coming days to prevent similar disruptions.
Authorities also urged parents and students to rely solely on official communication from schools and law enforcement agencies and avoid circulating unverified information on social media.
“There is no cause for panic. All necessary protocols were followed immediately,” officials reiterated.
