A 23-year-old motorcyclist, Sahil Dhaneshra, died after a speeding SUV allegedly driven by a minor crashed into him in Dwarka, Delhi. Family alleges reckless driving and negligence. Investigation continues.

A routine ride to work turned fatal for 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra earlier this month when his motorcycle was struck by a speeding SUV in Delhi’s Dwarka area. The collision, which occurred in Sector 11, has not only claimed a young life but also ignited concerns over reckless driving, alleged negligence, and road safety enforcement in the national capital.

According to police records, the crash took place around 11:50 am. Sahil was riding his Yamaha R15 motorcycle when a Scorpio SUV allegedly travelling at high speed collided with him. The impact was severe. He died at the scene.

Allegations of Wrong-Lane Driving

Family members allege that the SUV was being driven in the wrong lane at the time of the crash. The vehicle was allegedly being driven by Akshatra Singh, who was accompanied by his sister.

Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, has publicly alleged that the occupants were recording a video for social media when the incident occurred. She claims the SUV swerved dangerously near a bus before crashing into her son’s motorcycle and later hitting a parked car.

Police have not officially confirmed whether a video was being recorded at the time. The investigation remains ongoing.

A Future Interrupted

Friends describe Sahil as disciplined and focused on building a stable career. He was working part-time at an insurance firm while planning to pursue higher education abroad later this year.

His friend Manav Sachdeva said Sahil had discussed plans of studying in cities like Manchester or in Germany. “He was serious about his future. His parents were planning to send him abroad,” he said.

For the family, those dreams ended abruptly on a city road just minutes away from his workplace.

Questions Over Licensing and Responsibility

The victim’s mother has alleged that the driver did not possess a valid driving licence and had prior speeding violations. She also criticised the accused’s parents for allegedly allowing him access to the vehicle.

“There are already many challans,” she said, questioning how he was permitted to drive.

Police have registered charges under relevant provisions related to rash driving, negligence causing death, and endangering life. Legal proceedings involving the driver and the vehicle owner are underway.

Alleged Delay in Medical Response

The family has also raised concerns about the emergency response. According to Sahil’s mother, an ambulance was present at the scene but did not immediately transport him to hospital.

She alleged that her son remained on the road for nearly ten minutes before being moved. Authorities have not publicly commented on the timeline of medical response.

Post-Mortem Findings

Medical examination reports indicate that Sahil died due to haemorrhagic shock resulting from severe cranio-cerebral injuries sustained in the crash.

The report documented a skull fracture, subdural haematoma, brain swelling, fractured ribs, lung trauma, and significant internal bleeding. Doctors described the injuries as consistent with a high-impact collision.

Broader Road Safety Debate

The incident has once again spotlighted concerns about underage driving, speeding, and the growing trend of risky social media content involving vehicles. Public discourse around parental accountability and enforcement of traffic regulations has intensified following the crash.

Authorities have reiterated that investigations are continuing, with evidence, eyewitness accounts, and digital records under review.

For Sahil’s family, however, the legal process offers little comfort.

“My son left home to earn an honest living,” his mother said. “He never came back.”

As the case moves forward, it stands as a stark reminder of how a single moment on the road can alter lives forever.
