A deeply disturbing incident unfolded inside a law college in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district on Monday morning, where a first-year student allegedly shot his female classmate before turning the weapon on himself. The shocking act, which occurred during regular class hours, has raised serious concerns about campus safety, youth mental health, and illegal firearm access.

The deceased student has been identified as Sandeep Kaur, a resident of Naushehra Pannuan, while the accused is Prince Raj, a resident of Mallian village in Jalandhar district. Both were enrolled in the first year of a law program at a private college located in Usma village, Tarn Taran.

Incident Captured on CCTV

According to police officials, the incident occurred at approximately 9:15 am and was captured by the college’s CCTV cameras. The footage shows Prince Raj entering the classroom and walking past Sandeep Kaur without engaging in conversation. Shortly afterward, Sandeep Kaur is seen leaving the classroom, with Prince Raj following her.

A third student attempted to intervene during the interaction. Moments later, the CCTV footage shows all three students returning to the classroom area. They move toward the back benches, where Sandeep Kaur and another female student sit down, while Prince Raj takes a seat in front of them.

What followed happened within seconds.

Prince Raj reportedly stood up, removed a pistol from his bag, turned around, and fired a single shot at Sandeep Kaur, striking her in the head. She collapsed instantly and died on the spot. Immediately after, Prince Raj took a few steps away and shot himself in the head using the same firearm.

Panic and Chaos on Campus

The sudden gunfire caused panic among students and staff. Witnesses described scenes of shock and fear as students rushed out of classrooms upon hearing the gunshot. The third classmate seen in the CCTV footage appeared visibly traumatized and briefly returned to check on Sandeep Kaur before fleeing the room with others.

College authorities immediately informed local police, who arrived at the scene within minutes. The injured accused was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition was described as critical at the time of admission.
